SUMMARY:11.6.2026 - Career Fair at Madison Area Technical College
DESCRIPTION:Career Fair at Madison Area Technical College\n📅 November 6\, 2026\n⏰ All day\n🌎 Madison Area Technical College – True X Campus 1701 Wright St\, Madison\, WI 53704 \nJoin WCC\, in partnership with WPPI Energy and Slipstream\, at the Madison Area Technical College – True X Campus to attract potential employees to the alternative fuels and cleaner technology fields! \nThanks to Bergstrom Automotive for agreeing to bring an array of electric cars and participate in the career fair! \nExact details have yet to be announced. Typically\, there are six to seven classrooms where a subject related to energy is discussed (solar\, robotics\, etc.) WCC’s classroom will be about Electric Vehicle Technology. Our classroom is usually held in the Auto Tech Classroom/Shop or outside. In the past\, an average of 150 kids from surrounding schools converged on Madison Area Technical College. Brief presentations are held in the auditorium to kick off the event. After that\, groups of about 20-30 students are assigned to each classroom. There are 6 to 7 rotations\, 25 minutes each\, starting around 9:30 am. Each group has at least one or more “teachers” and a “guide”. The guide keeps time and helps the group transition to the next station. The teachers for WCC are usually from an auto dealership\, power utility\, and the local workforce board.  Each teacher has about 3-5 minutes to tell the students about careers in their field (auto techs\, designers\, fuel providers\, salespeople\, etc. and the skills needed for those jobs).  The purpose of the presentations is to get the youth thinking about careers.  We then let the kids explore the cars brought to the event.  They get to sit in the vehicles and look under the hood\, etc.  It is one of the more exciting classrooms for the kids because it’s quite hands-on. \nA full agenda will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date.

SUMMARY:3.04.26 🚢 EV Boating 101 🛟 11:30 am - 2:45 pm
DESCRIPTION:🚢 EV Boating 101 Webinar\n📅 March 4th\, 2026 11:30 am – 12:45 pm\n🗺️ Virtual – REGISTER HERE\nWisconsin is a unique state bordered by two great lakes and the largest river in North America\, with 15\,074 smaller landlocked lakes within. We hold 21% of the world’s surface freshwater\, which supports an $8.4 billion economy based on shipping\, boating\, agriculture\, fishing\, and tourism\, supporting over 34\,000 jobs in Wisconsin. Despite this\, Wisconsin does not have any laws regulating boating emissions. Instead\, Wisconsin relies on EPA rules for engine manufacturing to keep our water safe. Those rules mandate CO detectors for boats with enclosed cabins & waste discharge\, but there is nothing regarding emissions. If we want to keep Wisconsin lakes clean\, it’s up to us\, the people\, to raise awareness about cleaner alternative fuel options and promote practices that help protect our marine life. WCC is committed to learning how to better protect our lakes with cleaner transportation options. We have reached out to expert Jukka Kukkonen\, raised on the fjords of Finland\, to introduce us to the topic of how to better protect our lakes through EV boating. \n \n  \nJukka holds a degree in applied science and began his career as an automotive engineer by training\, working his way into technical training and area management for Ford in Europe. He also teaches EV Markets and Technology at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. In 2010 Jukka founded Shift2Electric to focus on transportation electrification. With his deep knowledge of the electric vehicle market\, he has built programs for utility companies\, condominium and apartment building charging\, workplace charging\, DC fast charging\, outreach and education and smart grid integration \n  \n  \nWCC plans to do a deep dive into the ways we can help protect Wisconsin’s waterways. We welcome partnerships and ideas on how we can accomplish this mission together. Feel free to reach out to info@wicleancities.org with your suggestions.
