SUMMARY:September 24\, 2020 - SMART Mobility Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:September 24\, 2020\, 2 p.m. CDT – Systems-Level Transportation Simulation: Creating the SMART Mobility Modeling Workflow \nThe Energy Efficient Mobility Systems (EEMS) program in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Vehicle Technologies Office is hosting a series of seven Systems and Modeling for Accelerated Research in Transportation (SMART) Mobility Consortium webinars. \nMobility connects people to opportunity. Whether they are accessing work\, healthcare\, shopping\, education\, or leisure activities\, people rely on transportation as fundamental to a high quality of life. What energy implications and opportunities are inherent in new transportation solutions? Do gains in one area cause tradeoffs in another? Where are there synergies between new technologies? DOE’s SMART Mobility Consortium is dedicated to answering these kinds of important questions. \nWebinar 1 –  Systems-Level Transportation Simulation: Creating the SMART Mobility Modeling Workflow – will be hosted by David Anderson\, Program Manager\, VTO-Energy Efficient Mobility Systems and Aymeric Rousseau\, Argonne National Laboratory. \n

SUMMARY:June 29\, 2020 - Battery Critical Materials Supply Chain Opportunities Workshop
DESCRIPTION:June 29\, 2020\, 12 p.m.-2:45 p.m. CDT – Battery Critical Materials Supply Chain Opportunities Workshop \nCritical materials are used in many products important to the American energy economy. For example\, critical materials like lithium and cobalt are vital to manufacturing lithium-ion batteries used for electric vehicles and grid energy storage\, and demand continues to grow. \nThe Trump Administration has made the security of our nation’s critical-mineral supplies a top priority. In response to White House Executive Order 13817\, A Federal Strategy to Ensure Secure and Reliable Supplies of Critical Minerals\, the Department of Energy (DOE) is leading the way in reducing our dependence on imported critical materials by reducing the amount of the materials needed for battery production and recycling the materials already in use. \nOn June 29\, 2020\, DOE is hosting a virtual Battery Critical Materials Supply Chain Opportunities Workshop to convene stakeholders across the battery critical materials supply chain. Join us for an in-depth conversation about the nation’s battery critical mineral cathode supplies\, and learn about how DOE is driving U.S. economic competitiveness across the critical materials supply chain. \nThe workshop will include: \n\nAn overview of DOE investments in research and development;\nA virtual roundtable on the state of the battery critical materials supply chain;\nSpecial remarks from Daniel R Simmons\, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy; and\nA special announcement.\n\nThis Battery Critical Materials Supply Chain Opportunities Workshop supports DOE’s Energy Storage Grand Challenge\, which draws on the extensive research capabilities within the DOE National Laboratories\, universities\, and industry to accelerate the development the energy storage technologies and sustain American global leadership. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to engage with industry stakeholders from across the battery supply chain\, National Laboratories\, and academia. \n \n \nSpeaker: \nDaniel R Simmons\nAssistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy \nSponsored by
