Michigan St.\, Milwaukee\, Wisconsin \nJoin the Mid-west Energy Research Consortium (M-WERC) for the Smart Transportation Roundtable\, a showcase and discussion of Wisconsin’s leadership in developing and implementing smart transportation technologies! Hear from keynote speaker Lisa Brown\, National Senior Director\, Strategy\, Local Government & Municipal Infrastructure for Johnson Controls! Enjoy panel discussions on smart transportation\, including: \n\n\n\nPanel 1: Highway corridors that use smart technologies to improve efficiency for freight and individuals\, as well as safety for all. A successful project in Atlanta will serve as a reference for similar efforts in Wisconsin.\nPanel 2: Local government leaders in Wisconsin — including Milwaukee and Racine — will discuss recent smart transportation technology initiatives implemented in their communities. The panel will be moderated by Lorrie Lisek\, Executive Director of Wisconsin Clean Cities\, who will provide insight into how smart transportation and the state’s leadership in electric vehicles go hand-in-hand.\n\nEach panel will include time for table discussion\, insight sharing and networking. \n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:November 14\, 2019 – Webinar: EVs: Used Vehicle\, Battery Second Life & Life Cycle Analysis
DESCRIPTION:November 14\, 2019\, 2:30 Central – Webinar: EVs: Used Vehicle\, Battery Second Life & Life Cycle Analysis \nBattery electric vehicles (BEVs) hold great promise for reducing pollutant emissions from the vehicle sector since BEVs outperform conventional vehicles in most environmental metrics. The lithium-ion battery that stores the vehicle’s energy has become a point of concern for its effect on pollutant emissions and for uncertainty regarding its future end-of-life. Jarod Kelly from Argonne National Laboratory will examine the used BEV market (as a means toward social equity)\, the opportunity for second-life applications of the BEV’s battery\, and life cycle environmental effects. \n
