SUMMARY:April 13\, 2021 - GTI Webinar: The Role of Hydrogen
DESCRIPTION:April 13\, 2021\, 10 a.m. Central – GTI Tech Talk Webinar: Road to Zero: Low Carbon Energy Systems – The Role of Hydrogen \nAs we move toward economy-wide deep decarbonization\, hydrogen (H2) is positioned as a low-carbon resource and energy carrier with great potential. \nWhat can H2 be used for? How can the nation’s existing gas infrastructure be leveraged? How can new renewable energy technologies be introduced? What role does power-to-gas play? \nGTI is exploring options and developing new innovations to support the broader use of H2. From their centralized Hydrogen Technology Center to the Low-Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI) with EPRI\, they are driving toward a cleaner\, more sustainable energy future. \nSpeakers include: \nKristine Wiley: As the Executive Director of GTI’s Hydrogen Technology Center (HTC)\, Kristine Wiley works across the organization to synchronize deep industry knowledge and technical expertise\, as well as large-scale labs and test facilities to integrate the use of H2 into the energy system. Addressing economy-wide decarbonization\, the HTC brings together public-private partnerships to facilitate R&D to enable clean H2 generation\, transport\, storage and utilization at scale while leveraging the existing robust energy infrastructure to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon future. \nDr. James Seaba: As Senior Director of Technology Development\, Dr. James Seaba plays a strategic role in the evaluation and maturation of technology at GTI. From the development of novel hydrogen technology for fuel cells to the reduction of greenhouse gases in oil sands production\, Jim has successfully developed and executed strategies and commercialized technology from idea to practice in the oil and gas industry as well as automotive and aerospace sectors.
